Thanksgiving Day

Thanksgiving is an annual national holiday in the United States and Canada celebrating the harvest and other blessings of the past year.

Although Thanksgiving has historical roots in religious and cultural traditions, it has long been celebrated as a national holiday. And is particularly rich in legend and symbolism, and the traditional fare of the Thanksgiving meal typically includes turkey, bread stuffing, potatoes, cranberries, and pumpkin pie.

But the essence of Thanksgiving itself is to reflect on the past year and be thankful for what we have. And you, what are you thankful for? What do you think of these traditions?

  1. Hey, it's me, Sofi. I really appreciate the teacher giving us time to stop, think and reflect about all the good people and things we have in our lives, because I have been so busy lately that I forgot to pay attention to the little details that make me who I am. I'm thankful for my family, because they are my safe place. I grew up with loving, smart and strong people who supported me in every step and decision I made, even when they didn't share my philosophy they have always had my back. I am grateful for having a safe space where my essence and persona are celebrated and I'm aloud to freely express myself. I'm deeply grateful with my friends, because they accepted me with open arms in their lives. They listen, understand and look out for me.

They all have taught me how to love and be loved, how to overcome the hard times and appreciate the opportunity to learn form them and grow. I couldn't be happier for calling these amazing people my family.

I think not only in Christmas or Thanksgiving that we should gather with our loved ones and thank them for their selfless support, but to remind them every day with our actions how gratified we are.

  2. Hi, I'm Omar, I don't know exactly what you did in class because I went to get vaccinated, but what I understood is that I should write a comment about this. Well, in my family it is not a date that is celebrated, however today I am considering starting to do it. I am grateful to God because without his help I would be someone very different from who I am. My family is my heart and they are very important. I think that sometimes we fall into the monotony of living with the same people every day, but we do not value them enough. Thanks to the teachers, and to my friends for many good experiences.

Firstly I would say that mi family because they have always been there for me in the good and bad moments that I have experienced, sincerely I can imagine how lucky I am for having a huge family that loves me as I am, my twin is my confident the only person that knows me as how I really am she's always standing by me, I adore her.
Sephora my dog it is important for me because of her dummy mood and how she makes me laugh everytime she does something,I love her.

  7. Hey! so, there's many things I'm grateful for this year. First of all, I'm so incredibly grateful that my family and I were able to survive COVID in January without any major complications, and we're all still here. I'm also grateful we're all vaccinated now!
Other things I'm grateful for: My parent's support, my friends, getting the opportunity to live in a new house, getting a chance of going to college, etc.
(I'm also grateful for the nice lady that let me take a picture with her corgi because I'll treasure that moment forever (they're my favourite dogs okay? okay.))
Overall, I'm grateful that I got to spend another year with the people I love. Even tho we experienced loss as well, there's so much that I learned.
    Happy Thanksgiving!

  9. Hi everybody, what I’m thankful for the reflection we are able to be conscious of, through the pandemic I’ve seen what’s has happened around the world, what’s happened to people I know, and my family has been good, sometimes I just didn’t get to realize how fortunate I am, I’m thankful for the new mindset I have, I’m thankful that I have gotten to know myself a little bit more, I am really thankful for my family and friends, I don’t have many but they are the best ones.

I will always be thankful for every single new day that I have learned to see as a gift, a chance, I am growing up and finding myself, I’m also thankful for all the effort that the teachers have done to teach us through this situation.
    I’m learning, I’m really thankful for that…

  10. Hi this is Pedro. I’m thankful for the air we breathe, for the sun that gives us energy and heat, for the trees and nature, for every single detail in my life and the presence of the people I love. But most of all, for the simple fact of being alive and able to feel, think, speak and express myself. Secondly I give thanks for everything I have experienced in my life, because it made me up the way I am

    Having a home and education.

  13. The pandemic has changed how we work, learn and interact. Which made me realize how life has changed and how the things I’m thankful for have changed too.

I’m thankful for having a good health, for my family who have been beside me through all my life, for my friends whom may not be living in the same country as me but they make sure I know they’re always by my side, for having the opportunity to continue studying and getting to learn things from an amazing teacher such as yourself:), for having a home, for the books I enjoy reading and learning from time to time, for art such as paintings, drawings, music or even dancing and singing, and way more stuff.

I think Thanksgiving is important because gratitude can truly change your life. It makes you appreciate what you have rather than what you don't have. It’s the single most powerful source of inspiration that any person can tap into if they simply just stop and paid attention to the beauty of life.

  14. There´s many things I´m grateful for this year.

I´m grateful that all of my dearest family members and friends are well and alive, that I get the opportunity to further my studies if I wish to do so, I´m grateful beacause we haven´t had any major problems regarding the pandemic and our health and now we´re vaccinated, for having found new hobbies, and for being given everything I need and more.
Mostly I´m grateful for the people in my life and their place in it. I think this year we all made an effort to understand each other better. I´m happy I got to have this year with them and I hope I get to have a lot more.
I´m even grateful for this assigment, it made me stop for a few minutes and remember all the good things I have in my life. I´ll make sure to have it present a lot more.
    Happy Thanksgiving.

  15. So, this task has made me put my feet here, center my attention and thoughts. I´ve sadly realized, I´ve been pretty busy , that I haven´t stopped for a while and watch the details, to thank the things that are always here. I haven´t had the time to thank my mom´s support, to thank my brother´s smiles, my person, and life.
I definitely know I´m thankful for living, I truly am, I entirely appreciate having the chance of waking up, and having this life; being myself, open my eyes and realize I´m really lucky of wearing this soul, of being Yoani.
I thank my body, that is always here, trying to stay away from diseases, and keep ,myself standing, I thank my person, for being myself, for having these thoughts, manias that make me feel who I am. I´m thamkful for my treasured human being; my cousins, synonim of best friends, my parents, brother; all my precious family that have had an impact on me, that make me feel at home, make me laugh, and forget about the rest of the World. I thank my few and true friends, for having my back, for making me smile even if I´m not in the mood, for accepting me, and share our life together.
I´m thankful for breathing, for having goals, dreams, imagination that have helped me to survive, I´m thankful for my learnings, experiences, bad and good times. I thank the moments that constantly, have been being part of my peculiar person.
Yes, I´m thankful for all the things that have been part of my life... :)
